World Superbike Championships

Headed to The Superbike World Championships this weekend in Salt Lake City. Waiting for press credentials now! Hopefully get some behind the scenes shots. More later...

Met up with Jonathan Green and Steve Martin, the commentators for the Speed network. Scouted the first day, met some of the team managers, racers and other photographers. Including some of the world championship teams from around the world. An awesome experience and great connections.

Action Motor Sports

North Desert - 5.2.12
Wow! This was a dry, DUSTY shoot! Motor action sports in the north desert of Grand Junction, Colorado. We were instantly buried in dust, along with gear being covered. We used plastic bags to cover the strobes at least. The 5D MK2's had to be seriously cleaned after this one. This shot, credit Ken Redding, was me about to get pummeled by dirt.

BTW: The new Pocketwizard TT5 was being tested out here and worked excellent.

Mountain Bike Shoot

May 1st, 2012
Met up with Noah from MRP here in Grand Junction, CO and Sparky. Beautiful spring evening.

I've been scouting this location for months and finally we've rallied and got this shoot in.

Still trying to work around this limitation with 1/200 shutter speed, strobes and fast action. Experiment with Hypersync next week.

Parkour Shoot

Grand Junction, CO
Parkour shoot with Ken Redding - these guys are crazy! We worked out two locations for this shoot. I wanted to keep it an urban, concrete look and feel since that's generally what Parkour is all about.
The parking structure downtown and an empty lot with concrete support walls.

We used evening ambient light with the usual Alien Bees fill light. This was a fun shoot to set-up - these Parkour guys are the most talented around and easy to work with.

Shot most everything into the sun trying to blow out the sky. I love the dynamics of this sport and the locations to use are endless. And I felt great about the composition I ended up with.

Thanks Vinney and Jesse for coming out. We have another shoot lined out next week with different locations. Thanks Ken for helping out and gripping a little too!
